Ford has announced it will celebrate its famous win at the 1967 24 Hours of Le Mans with a new special edition based on the GT supercar.
Following the success of last year's '66 heritage model, the new Ford GT '67 Heritage looks tremendous in the same colours as the winning Mk IV GT40 driven to victory by Americans Dan Gurney and AJ Foyt.
Featuring 'Race Red' paint with white stripes and a white 'No. 1' bonnet and door stickers, the limited-run GT comes runs the exposed carbon-fibre package and 20-inch forged aluminium wheels. Bright red brake calipers and silver mirrors complete the external changes.
Inside, there's red seat belts and leather-trimmed carbon-fibre seats with red stitching which is also used for the steering wheel.
Each '67 Heritage car comes with its own unique commemorative plaque.
Under the rear bonnet, the standard 483kW/746Nm twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 is unchanged - no suggestion of a big block V8 like those which powered the Le Mans racers.
Combined with a Getrag-sourced seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, Ford has yet to announce full performance figures, including 0-100km/h times, for the GT aside from its 348km/h top speed.
It's also still not known how much the US car maker will charge for the 1000 cars it will build, although the rumour is more than $A650,000.
